PRIORITIES

A home buyer was once ready to close the deal that seemed good in all respects, but just as the final papers were ready to be signed, the owner added one little item. He said that there was one room in that house that he had locked up, and only he had the key, and he wanted to keep that room for his own use any time he wanted it. Of course, no one in their normal state would accept such a provision.

Lately, I have noted some parallel thinking, in that some folks think that they can knowingly and deliberately disobey (defy) God, and still expect to receive continuous blessing and guidance from Him. Or from another angle, they say they want to know God and glorify Him and walk in the light, yet choose to replace time in prayer and daily Bible study with all kinds of events, meetings, hobbies, sports events, concerts, TV (especially TV) and the like. The time for fellowship with Him is squeezed dry which means that we are giving Him no time to show us His beauty, and His wonderful love, His incredible provision and His plans for us.

We have thus deliberately chosen to let the "cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word and it becomes unfruitful." Matt 13.22. In that same chapter [the parable of the sower] another one 'stumbles' because he has 'no root' and thus cannot handle (inevitable) troubles.

Hey, if any of that describes you, it is something you can delete! You can immediately choose to prioritize your life differently so that there is very little defiance, choking, quenching, and rootless stumbling in your daily walk. Then, you can step into the delightful place God has for you described in Psa 16.1; "You will show me the path of life, in your presence is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore." Nice huh?!
