HE WILL DO IT
1 Thess 5.23,24 is one of the incredible statements of scripture that I find too big for my thinker, yet terribly encouraging. The NLT says: "Now may the God of peace make you holy in every way, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless until that day when our Lord Jesus Christ comes again. God who calls you, is faithful, he will do this." Whoa...did you read those last four words?
It is God who is doing the work. Jesus said, "It is the Father living in me, doing his work." This is a joyful, encouraging thing! It's the genius of "Christ IN you, the hope of glory." I am a new creature in Christ, it is no longer I that live, but Christ lives in me. He who lives in me, and calls me, is faithful, he will do this! He will do it! In Ezekial 36.36, "I the Lord have spoken, and I will do it."
What then, is our part? It is to abide in Christ, to walk in the Spirit, to be controlled by the Spirit,...by faith. Major Thomas says ---He does it, by my consent.
In Phil 1.6 NKJV--- "being confident of this very thing that He who has begun a good work in you, will complete it (Do it, carry it to completion) until the day of Christ." He will do it! God always keeps his promises. So that is all I need to know, to be full of joy and confidence. Complete in Christ.
Isn't this super-provision something to cause us to ....Praise the Lord?!
