Ephesians 1.2 says, "Praise be to the God and father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ." What are these blessings? Do we really need them?

In the approximately 3500 years of civilization, less than 300 have been without war - but 8000 treaties have been made and broken! We definitely need the grace and blessings of God.

Tozer, divides them into three kinds: the first is those that come to us immediately upon our believing in Christ as Savior, like forgiveness justification, adoption and the like. We possess these even before we are aware that we have them. The second are riches which we cannot enjoy until the Lord returns. These include perfection glorification of our bodies, knowing him as we are known, dwelling in the light as He is in the light, and eternal rewards. These are ours just as surely as if we possessed them right now! The third category consists of treasures which come only as we make a determined effort to possess them. These include deliverance from sin, victory over self, fruitfulness in service, freedom from anxiety, and the ultimate of all blessings which is to be "filled and flooded with God himself." These come to us as we progressively learn to trust God and depend upon him for everything. 

These enormous blessings then. encompass the past, the present and all of our future. Standing in the light of these incredible realities it seems prudent, does it not, to believe what God says, and to be utterly obedient to him? It's only when we trust and obey that we are in a position to receive what God (who really loves us) wants to lavish on us. 

"TRUST AND OBEY....that's where its at, if you want to be 'lavished' upon.
And that is within the reach of every single one of us!
