THE REST OF THE GOSPEL is an outstanding book written in 2000 by Dan Stone. It should be read by every believer..this week! It is not only doctrinally sound and helpful, but is really interesting and relevant. Dan Stone relates how after 20 years of study, teaching and preaching as a southern Baptist pastor, he realized that he could not live the Christian life!" He was depressed, discouraged, and "gave up on God." 

Then he discovered that the Christian life is not a matter of 'doing your best' but is a matter of Jesus, through the Holy Spirit, living His life in you! He lives it, by your consent. Most of the book is the explanation of what that means in real life, and the marvelous transformation that happened in his life and ministry. The 'big picture' from God's mind is not our comfort and blessing, it is that God is glorified in us! The big picture is not about us! Have you heard that before? Has that become real to you? Most of us never grasp that. (Just listen to your --and other people's-- prayers.) 

We just finished studying the Book of Acts ("Acts of the Holy Spirit" someone has named it) in our Sunday School class. This book is a perfect follow through. It is a wonderful complement to Andrew Murry's SAVING LIFE OF CHRIST. How to live a Spirit controlled life is the big subject, - understood by very few; yet it is God's plan and in my HBAO, is the most important teaching of the Bible for a believer. 

So I want to recommend this book to you all, not just to shelve or even read, but to absorb! It is the real stuff! Give it to your friends, and especially to your pastor!
