'STRUGGLERS'
"Struggle" = "to contend vigorously, to advance with strenuous effort." Paul said that is what he did in order to equip believers -while still on earth-- to live for Christ. (Col 2.1,2) And he knew that he was indwelt by Christ Himself to give him the power and wisdom to do it.
That's good. But there is another kind of struggler...who is striving to produce what God has already imparted to him, things like love, joy, and freedom from worry. Major Thomas says its like trying to get into a room where you already are! These folks will pray "Lord, please don't leave me" in spite of the fact that He says over and over "I will never leave you."
God says: "My yoke is easy, and my burden is light; My grace is sufficient for you; He has given us everything that pertains to life and godliness; I am complete in' Christ; it is not I but Christ living in me; it is the Father, living in me doing His work; have no anxiety about anything; my peace I give to you; I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me; [we can be] filled and flooded with God Himself. ---And we still "struggle ???????
All our sins are forgiven, all debts cancelled, we died with Him when He died, we were buried with Him, and have been raised with Him, and are now alive in Him. We have been given His life, and His mind, and adopted into His family. We are loved by God, and wanted by Him! Incredible. Paul's 'struggle' was not with these issues, but with his life purpose of equipping believers.
C. S. Lewis is quoted as saying: "We are half-hearted creatures, fooling about with drink and sex and ambition, when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum [struggling] because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea."
