YOUR CHOICE

CHOICES, and the resulting consequences, are infinitely more important than we have thought, ever. For example, the choice to accept, or reject Jesus as Savior. And then, on a daily basis the choice to trust God and walk with Him, or live out the works of the flesh. Think for a minute of the consequences of just those two examples.

But it is far more pervasive because we all make many choices every single day, and some of them are life and death type! I have been chewing on the wonderful privilege that God allows us to choose whether to be thankful, or to grumble about, what is happening. For instance, I read the news every morning, and I read this mostly bad [terrible] news sitting in a comfortable chair, well fed, healthy, no debt, and with tons of loved ones nearby, and living in the US of A. The point is that there is more than enough awful news to keep me grumbling, upset, complaining and depressed all day long. But lately I have been choosing not to go there!

I simply choose to replace that sort of thinking with thinking about all the blessings that God has lavished on me, for His constant care in the past, and guidance, and wisdom, and love -- for my wife and family and incredible friends, good health, insight into His Word, purpose and meaning in my life, the ability to enjoy all this and more. That kind of thinking makes me smile, and makes me want to stay close to God.

So when I turn my back on what God is to me, and then grumble and complain and feel lousy and selfishly treat people as inferiors with criticism and contempt.......whose fault is that? I think you know the answer.

That has been a wonderful insight for me, the last 2 or 3 weeks, and that gives me something else for which to be grateful. That is part of the work the Holy Spirit is doing in me.
